About Us
OUR SERVICE - WORKING FOR YOU
Wakefield Council has been a Registered Body with the DBS since the introduction of CRB checks in March 2002.
We have a wide range of experience and knowledge of DBS legislation and processing of the relevant checks.
We have recently expanded our status to become an Umbrella Body and the Wakefield Council online system means we can now carry out online DBS checks for all organisations.
DBS Checks
Our Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) process is a quick, easy and secure means of obtaining a DBS check which allows employers to access the criminal record history of people working, or seeking to work, in certain positions, especially those that involve working with children or vulnerable adults and for other legislative requirements such as taxi licensing.
Wakefield Council offers employers an online, e-Bulk DBS service and we are confident that this provides one of the fastest and simplest criminal record checking services available. Over 85% of Enhanced DBS checks are returned within 5 - 8 working days.*
*The turnaround time for DBS checks can take longer if you have a common name, have changed your name, have multiple addresses or if you have prior convictions.
Do you need to run a DBS check? Here's how:
- You provide us with the applicant/employee/volunteer’s email details and those of the Responsible Person, e.g manager, who will be validating the Identity
- We create a username and password and email a link to the applicant/employee/volunteer with instructions on how to complete the form online
- We also send a username and password to the Responsible Person to verify Identity details
- The applicant/employee/volunteer uses the link to the Wakefield Council webpage and logs in to complete the simple, easy to follow form
- An automatic check will prevent the form from being submitted if it’s incomplete or contains errors, saving time and frustration
- We send the applicant/employee/volunteer an email confirming that their form has been successfully submitted
- The Responsible Person will be advised via email that the Identity section now needs to be completed
- The Responsible Person checks the identity with that supplied by the applicant/employee/volunteer, enters the details to the system and submits the form
- Wakefield Council countersigns the application and sends the form electronically via e-Bulk to the DBS for processing
- The average turnaround time for DBS disclosures is 5 - 8 days.
